Why we need more statues of scientists on university campuses
I have always wondered why Stellenbosch does not have statue of Hendrik van der Bijl? Unless I missed it somewhere...
Here is an idea: SABC (or any digital platform) should have a standing show(s) that interviews leading figures in science, technology & innovation.
Hendrik van der Bijl was closely associated with the University of Pretoria, so I guess a statue there would make more sense.
'Beyond 2000' was a great show. Perhaps we need to do something similar for South Africa.
