The annual Toyota US Woordfees in Stellenbosch is an excellent excuse for conversations beyond the classroom. So I jumped at the opportunity when I was invited to join a panel with the authors of three biographies of South Africa’s most celebrated (and sometimes castigated) business leaders: TJ Strydom on Koos Bekker, Niel Joubert on Whitey Basson and Michael Cardo on Harry Oppenheimer.
Reading the three biographies, three things stood out: exploitation, education and execution.
