As I'm about to write, a large hawk lands on our balcony about 2m from my laptop. Through the blinds, I can see it clearly. It's there with one purpose: late last year a dove nested on the balcony and two baby doves emerged on the 1st of January 2012. New beginnings.
But it hasn't been easy. First, Helanya and I had to keep Jerry, our borrowed cat, away from the glass door. Now it's this supreme predator of flight. Add to that the sweltering heat of the Boland in January and the occasional gale-force winds and suddenly the miracle of flight - and survival - becomes all too apprarent.
But I digress. The point is actually to introduce my own new beginnings. This is a new version of my blog. As with the young doves, there certainly will be growing pains. Hurdles. Obstacles. But there is also the joy of new things, of learning and of, well, sending that cosmic question into the void. Let's fly.
